We love these cookies! They're absolutely simple to make (good to do with kids), and taste delicious. This is that recipe for those soft old-fashioned peanut butter cookies nearly everyone loves.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup
margarine, softened
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups flour
milk (optional)
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
Directions:
1. Cream softened butter, peanut
butter, and sugars together in a large mixing bowl.
2. Add egg, beating well.
3. Add baking soda, powder and
vanilla.
4. Slowly stir in flour.
5. Taste dough. If you prefer it
to taste more like peanut butter, add more by the spoonful, mixing
and tasting between each spoonful. If dough becomes too
dry, add a small splash of milk.
5. In a separate small mixing
bowl, combine 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar.
5. Roll dough into balls, and roll
in sugar until each ball is heavily coated in sugars. Use as much as possible. Flatten cookies, using a fork, in a criss-cross pattern.
6. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet
at 350 degrees for 6-7 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown. When you remove them from the cookie sheet to cool them, they will fall apart easily, this is normal. Use a larger spatula to move them. They will finish baking as they cool. Makes two dozen.
7. Enjoy!
