In a study of over 118,000 healthy people with no history of heart disease or cancer, the New England Journal of Medicine found that those who frequently ate nuts were more likely to live longer and less likely to die of cancer, heart disease, and respiratory disease.
"As compared with participants who did not eat nuts, those who consumed nuts seven or more times per week had a 20% lower death rate...for most major causes of death, including heart disease, cancer, and respiratory diseases."
This study just goes to show that it's really a handful of nuts a day that keeps the doctor away.
