Dear Western Nut Current and Future Shoppers,
Western Nut has always been a locally owned, family business
since its inception. Back on the 8th of April, 1966, Wellington
McDonald and Helen Bean founded Western Nut Company. Jerry “Mike” Place, David Gillette, and Mac Bay bought the business in 1983. Now the business has
changed hands for only the third time in 52 years.
In March of this year, I along with two of my brothers –
Darin and Lee Mercer – bought Western Nut. I have already worked here for 11 years. Throughout the 11 years I worked directly with Mike, and he taught me the importance of how they cultivated Western Nut’s high reputation. First, we must always purchase the
highest quality of raw nuts from around the world. We must then roast them to
perfection. Last, to maintain our reputation we must adhere to our strict
standards of shelf life. That freshness is what our customers know sets us
apart from others.
We promise to carry on the great tradition of Western Nut.
We will maintain the quality and freshness you expect from us. With that said,
we hope you do notice some positive changes from us. We plan to become more than a “gift
giving” tradition of the Holidays. Our vision includes increasing our presence
of being locally produced, supporting healthy eating, and becoming the best in
state at customer service. Our 100% satisfaction guarantee not only extends to
our product; it extends to your entire experience with us.
We, along with our seasoned management team and employees are very excited for the future of Western Nut. We invite
you to share in this experience.
Sincerely,
Loren Mercer
President
